For over a decade I have been creating films, animations and art installations focused on environmental and social issues. I have created pro bono advertising campaigns and social content for NGO's and organisations who are engaged in making this world a better place. Below are some examples of creative content I have made addressing issues from over-fishing in Antartica, waste plastic in our oceans and awareness of habitat loss.

CLIENT : GREENPEACE
PROJECT : Various
ROLE : Art Direction / Motion Design / Animator 2D-3D / HTML5
In 2015 I was introduced to someone at a party who worked for Greenpeace. We spoke at lengths on various issues relating to her work and more generally about the environment. I told her that I was frustrated in not being able to use my skill to help more and that finding freelance work relating to climate issues was nearly impossible to find. I was invited to Greenpeace HQ in Islington and met the head of digital marketing to discuss providing my services for their campaigns. Their budget for advertising was taken up, mainly though agencies wanting to have Greenpeace on their books and the bulk of work required was either created in-house or through agencies that could take a loss on the project. I had only just started working as a freelancer and found that I had plenty of gaps between jobs, so I suggested that I would be happy to work pro-bono for them. Filling the gaps between jobs on work that was fulfilling, educational and rewarding was worth every penny. As I learnt new skills in HTLM5 animation/Editing and 3D, I channelled these into projects for a good cause.

CLIENT : SURFERS AGAINST SEWAGE
PROJECT : Various
ROLE : Art Direction / Motion Design / 3D animtation
I first stood up on a surfboard at the age of 12. I lived on an island which was blessed with good beaches and surf for all abilities. I was conscious of the environment and how to treat it, but would not have called myself an environmentalist at this point. I would say I was a "hard core" surfer for 7 years, however I moved away from the beach and into the city in my late twenties to pursue a career in design.
I love the oceans and the beaches I have surfed, and over the years have become very environmentally focused, not just because of the love of the ocean but because of an appreciation of all nature has to give. I was saddened to see how UK beaches, parks, and the countryside were mistreated and how litter and especially plastic waste was ever present. So apart from helping to pick up other peoples rubbish, I help raise awareness to this though pro-bono social adverts for SAS.
CLIENT : WORLD WILDLIFE FUND
PROJECT : Donate your voice
ROLE : Art Direction / Motion Design / 3D modelling
EarthHour put out a call and I answered it. They chose not to use these, but I don't mind. I wanted to create a series of endangered animals that were not quite photorealistic, but not illustrated either. The idea was to be able to use a simple process to create a series of animal heads that could be animated and also fast to develop. It was great fun playing around with the hair module in C4D to create the heads of these endangered animals. Currently developing this idea further and learning from my previous mistakes.

CLIENT : TREES FOR LIFE
PROJECT : Social Media
ROLE : Art Direction / Consultant / Statergy
Several years ago, Jersey suffered major tree loss through storm damage. The who island was affected and there was an outpouring of support from the local community. The charity Trees For Life was inundated with requests from people to volunteer to help clean up (I was one of them). I was friends with the CEO of the charity and suggested to make some changes to their social presence to capitalise on this new found following and engage with the community some more. I helped create templates so they could easily update their social pages and have some consistency in their messaging and identity. The main areas we concentrated on was sponsorship from local businesses, news and events. Each section had distinct branding and help increase follower numbers and engagement considerably. They have gone on to do wonderful things and are never short of volunteers.
