At Substance Global I was creative lead and art director (2008-2014), responsible for developing ideas, storyboarding and pitching work in various formats. Often a campaign would entail multiple formats from 'Rich and Standard' media / interactive media / page takeovers / micro-sites / games / social posts and videos / mobile adverts / mobile apps / pre-rolls and viral content.

A small selection of film advertising work I have made over the years for Fox Home Entertainment and 20th Century Fox. The below examples represent a mixture of various formats including paid media, page takeovers, pre-rolls, mastheads, mobile and DOOH. We had a great deal of freedom to experiment with new technologies and often created 'industry first' content for social platforms.
Winner of Best Media Campaign for film for Star Wars and SKYFALL.

I was very fortunate to have worked on many HBO series whilst working at Substance. Creating 'Rich and Standard' media, micro-sites and social content for some of the largest shows on the planet. Once again, we were allowed to drift away from the official artwork and create our own narratives to express the essence of the shows. We cut our own trailers to embed within the rich media units to tell various storylines or themes, and were usually given unlimited access by HBO to the shows we worked on, unfortunately this meant seeing the show out of context before watching it.
We received high engagement rates for our social and paid media creatives and managed to win a few awards along the way.

PROJECT : Various Games
ROLE : Art Direction / Motion Design / Video Editing / Flash Design / Storyboarding & Pitching
To engage certain target audiences, we created a multitude of flash and later HTML5 games to be seeded on various film sites. We also created micro-sites for titles such as Family Guy, Rio and Percy Jackson to further connect with the fan base and generate a buzz around their upcoming release. These sites often contained exclusive material such as wallpapers, trailers and promotions. Combined with paid media promotion and a strong PR social team, these sites provided additional engagement with the overall campaign.

ROLE : Art Direction / Brand Guardian / Flash Design / Storyboarding
When the streaming service Netflix launched in the UK no one had heard of it outside the industry. We were tasked with getting the name out there and to grown subscription rates. We created a series of banner campaigns to encourage take up of the service. With smart targeting we were able to engage with a wider audience by only showing content suited to them. Tapping into Facebooks API, we could tailor content to different demographics on the social site. It was a very successful approach with engagement and subscription levels higher than anticipated. My main role, other than designing the adverts was to be the UK guardian of the brand. Unfortunately the US marketing team at Netflix took over all creative control once we'd opened the door for them.
