Commissioned to make 12 videos to accompany the live set for RAZ & AFLA. The brief was open however one requirement was to pay homage to the Ghanaian roots which strongly influenced the music. I researched Ghanaian culture and based my designs on two elements, the vibrancy of their textiles, which is called Kente and the ancient language and symbolism of Adinkra. Fusing these together I created sets of patterns that would underpin the visuals, yet have the flexibility to be re-imagined for each song, giving the performance variety. Using the VJ software Resolume, I was able to experiment and develop the structure for each track and live record sections that would be edited in Premiere and After Effect. I then connected Resolume to Abbleton Live so the music and visuals became synced and BPM could be adjusted live.
